Sky: Pioli set to make lots of changes for Milan clash with Sassuolo

By Euan Burns -

Stefano Pioli is set to make plenty of changes to his AC Milan starting lineup for the game against Sassuolo next week, a report claims.

As has been reported by Sky Sport Italia this afternoon (via Milan News), the Italian coach is going to ring the changes for the trip to Emilia Romagna on Tuesday evening.

Alessandro Florenzi is set to start in place of Davide Calabria against the Neroverdi on the right flank and Matteo Gabbia will be alongside Fikayo Tomori and Pierre Kalulu.

Algerian midfielder Ismael Bennacer will be given a rest and Tommaso Pobega will come into the midfield in his place alongside Sandro Tonali.

There will be a total change of the attacking quartet as well. Junior Messias, Charles De Ketelaere, Rafael Leao and Olivier Giroud will all be out in place of Alexis Saelemaekers, Brahim Diaz, Ante Rebic and Divock Origi who is set for his first Milan start.

    1. Boy, that midfield if one of Tonali and Bennacer isn’t playing looks very suspect . Especially now with Krunic out injured.
I am not a big believer in Pobega.
      Hope he proves me wrong

    1. Are you dumb mf’s forgot next week Milan face Sasuolo at mid-week and at the end of the week Milan will face Inter?

Then the next midweek Milan will face Salzburg with Sampdoria waiting at the end the week.

Pioli will rotates his players if not they will get burnout or get injury.

      1. I mean, mate, these mf’s have the audacity to call the coach who brought us the first Scudetto in 10 years stupid. What do you expect?

        1. Pioli’s so stupid for giving Milan a scudetto…

Guess that just puts Montella, and the rest prior Pioli in a whole new level of retarded…

  1. Well saladmaker and brahem dioz can’t make a goal respectively, origi is still warming up, thus rebic will be in charge of making goal. But let’s hope they’re all making goals.

  3. Haha bunch of Fifa Managers here in the comments. 1. Players need rotation (rest) 2. I doubt this is the oficial line up. 3. Pioli knows what he is doing. 4. Its not prime but could work. 5. New players need adjustments and this is the moment to do it. 6. Pioli started using leao on the rw if anybody noted last game.

  4. I don’t like this. How is this lineup going to score. Why not Kjaer? I thought he was healthy now. Why would you start Gabbia over Kjaer. I understand the have Inter on the weekend, but 3 points is 3 points, you can’t be giving any away.

      1. I’m pretty sure he will go with Tomori and Kalulu in the first Champions League game. Kjaer should always be the next choice over Gabbia.

  5. Milan plays 7 games in a 21 day span.
Pioli will have to rotate players.
You can’t expect the same players to play every 3 days .
That’s why most fans have been asking for more players to come in especially in the midfield . Another midfielder is a must.
Kessie has not been replaced. I feel fans took Kessie for granted and don’t realize the hole he left behind. 1 game or 2 games a week made no difference, he was always ready to play and he did play. None of our current DMs have proven that they can stay healthy and on the field for a prolonged period of time.
Hopefully another DM comes in before Sept 1st

    1. Yeah, fans just talk to save their pride. But reality is, Kessie was our engine. It’s not like Calhanoglu was missed, nor Romagnoli… but Kessie was the man who ran that midfield. On the plus side, without him, we are forced to be more creative. A welcome challenge i must add.

  6. I love Oliver Giroud and he is a top centre forward and his awareness around the 18 yard area is second to none ,and of course he scores some pretty spectacular goals ..His physical strength is another huge asset as his hold up play is brilliant which allows others into the game ..When he starts we always seen to win..That said it’s obvious test the squad rotation must come into the equation, and as has already been said 7 games into 21 days is a lot ..So it’s wise to have new personal at hand ..We have a great squad this season ..I fully expect up ( AC Milan ) to challenge again for the scuddeto.I also believe we can have a very good run in the champions leauge .what a great management team we also have ..So bring the games on its AC Milan for me .
