Pioli could rotate two forwards into the Milan XI for Hellas Verona clash

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli may decide to start with both Ante Rebic and Divock Origi against Hellas Verona on Sunday evening in order to rest other forwards, a report claims.

As has been suggested by a report from Calciomercato.com, Olivier Giroud was a player who looked like he was in need of a rest against Chelsea at San Siro on Sunday night.

He has made 13 appearances already this season between Serie A and the Champions League and the header that he missed in the first half against Chelsea can only be explained by fatigue.

For that reason, it could be beneficially to let him be on the bench against Hellas Verona on Sunday. That could open the door for Origi to start the game at the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi.

The Belgian looked full of energy when he came on in the 2-0 defeat against Chelsea. He could also be joined by Rebic who did not start against Chelsea.

    1. We might as well see him play next match, as CDK is injured. Hope we can take a better (and longer) look of his performance. Vranckx is ready to play more too I think. While Gabbia should continue his starting position as his last 2 games were very decent. It’s time to keep his confidence up. And lastly, Dest didn’t have a bad game either last match to get minutes in the upcoming fixture.

    2. Pioli has already said that Adli is too slow and needs more pace, especially given Milan’s style of fast play and pressing.

He did also say his time will come.

  1. Yes, get them both playing. Rebic needs games and Origi needs more than a few minutes here and there to properly settle in. Leao and Giroud cant play every game. This is the reason we have a squad.

I also really like Diaz on the right, but that’s another topic.

    1. Agreed.

Leão can start on the bench against Hellas. Giroud too needs the rest. Also, Pobega should start with Tonali, while Bennacer should be rested. Their should be game time for Vranckx in that match. Adli too should also game time with CdK absent. Then Thiaw should also get game time.

We know it’s not PlayStation, but Hellas should be an opportunity for several non-starters to get into the team rhythm.

      Tata
      Kalulu – Gabbia – Tomori – Theo
      Pobega – Tonali
      Diaz – Krunic – Rebic
      Origi

      Thiaw for Tomori or Gabbia
      Vranckx for Tonali
      Adli for Krunic
      Dest for Diaz
      Balo-Toure for Theo
