Player Ratings: AC Milan 3-2 Udinese – Decisive Rebic, inspiring Rafael Leao

By Nikita Fesyukov -

AC Milan managed to grab a second consecutive victory in Serie A in a thrilling matchup against Udinese at the San Siro. Ante Rebic turned out to be the unlikely hero for the Rossoneri, as he netted his first two goals for the club. SempreMilan.com brings you the player ratings from the match.

STARTING XI

G. Donnarumma (6.5): Started off the game with an inexplicable mistake which resulted in Udinese’s opener. From that moment, however, he was phenomenal, made several fantastic saves and was the reason why Milan were still in the match until the very end.

Conti (6): Had a quiet first half except for his remarkable last-man tackle. In the second half, he was much more involved and even assisted Rebic’s first goal. However, he should have done much better marking Lasagna on Udinese’ equalizer and his defending against him (and Okaka) on numerous occasions was quite insufficient.

Kjaer (5.5): Was much more tested than in the Coppa Italia fixture against Spal. Had big problems with Lasagna’s pace and made several mistakes. However, it must be noted, that he made a decisive clearance to prevent Udinese from taking the lead early in the second half.

Romagnoli (6.5): Better than his partner. Good in the air, decisive and composed performance from the captain.

Theo Hernandez (7): Once again he was one of the most active players on the pitch and supported the attack greatly. His goal was a real beauty to watch but as said about Conti, he could have done better on Udinese’s equalizer, as Larsen passed by him with unusual ease to cross the ball to Lasagna.

Castillejo (6.5): After a somewhat weak first half, Samu unleashed his better self in the second part of the match. He showed off a performance of great spirit and energy and also showed off some of his fine skills to the San Siro.

Kessie (5): One of the weak links of the team today. Very sloppy performance from the midfielder. Udinese’s Fofana taught him a lesson of how to be a box-to-box midfielder.

Bennacer (6.5): A fine performance from the Algerian. Dictated the tempo very well and was surely the better midfielder out of the two today.

Bonaventura (4.5): Offered near to nothing to the game. His fitness looked really off, he was unable to hold on the ball well, unable to dribble. Deservedly substituted at half time.

Rafael Leao (7): What a second half from the young Portuguese starlet. In the first half, he was still getting his engine started but after the break, he was everywhere and put on a performance worthy of a fantastic player.

Ibrahimovic (6): Not an amazing performance from Zlatan. Had some nice moments but overall seemed a bit too static. However, his impact on the fighting spirit and desire of the team cannot be neglected.

SUBSTITUTIONS

Ante Rebic (7.5): To everyone’s surprise, came on in the second half against Bonaventura and almost immediately scored the equalizer. Throughout the rest of the half, his unpredictability and pace caused Udinese a lot of troubles and his second goal to win the game for Milan was the cherry on top. Man of the Match.
