Sky: AC Milan leading the race for Fenerbahce defender Kjaer

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are confident that they are ahead of three Premier League clubs in the race for Fenerbahce defender Simon Kjaer, a report claims.

The Denmark centre-back has been linked with a move to newly-promoted Brighton, while Liverpool and Arsenal are also understood to be tracking the centre-half.

Sky Sport Italia claim Milan are trying hard to complete a deal for the 28-year-old and they are confident that they are leading the race.

AC Milan have already completed the signing Mateo Musacchio for €18million from Villarreal, but they are still keen on adding another centre-back to their ranks with the risk that Gabriel Paletta and Cristian Zapata could both leave.

The report does however suggest that Milan may have to sell some players before sealing the deal, including potentially Paletta and Zapata, while AS Monaco are also interested in Kjaer, according to Fanatic.

Reports earlier in June from Turks Voetbal suggested Arsenal had seen a £10.6million for Kjaer rejected.

Kjaer has two years left on his current contract, but a departure seems imminent.
