Sky: Ibrahimovic to leave, star duo far from renewal – latest on Milan’s revolution

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are set for another revolution this summer both at management level and in terms of the playing squad, according to a report.

There are many uncertainties surrounding the Rossoneri at present such as who the next head coach will be as well as the futures of star players like Gianluigi Donnarumma, Alessio Romagnoli and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

According to what Maurizio Compagnoni has told Sky Italia (via MilanNews), Milan are ‘abound in doubts’ – starting from the managerial staff on the eve of yet another revolution.

The chances of Stefano Pioli remaining as head coach have decreased due to the prolonged pause because of COVID-19, while Ralf Rangnick and Marcelino’s candidacies are on the ride.

Ibrahimovic at 38 years of age is not part of CEO Ivan Gazidis’ project and will leave, while Romagnoli and Donnarumma are currently far from an agreement to extend their respective  contracts. Giacomo Bonaventura already knows that he will leave the Milan when his deal expires at the end of the season.

With a place in the Europa League still for Milan to earn there is a risk of a motivation problem, meaning Pioli must try and get the most out of the squad which could change the minds of the management in turn.
