Caldara is all but official as an Atalanta player, and his replacement will be Danish defender Simon Kjaer who’s currently on loan at Atalanta from Sevilla.
On Friday night’s Calcio Mercato L’Originale (via SempreMilan.com), transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio further explained the deal that will take Danish international and Atalanta defender Simon Kjaer to Milan for the rest of the season.
Di Marzio says that Milan will loan the centre-back for the remainder of the season with an option to buy. Furthermore, Di Marzio says that Kjaer could have his medical as early as tomorrow, since coach Pioli wants the defender available before Milan’s Coppa Italia game against SPAL on January 15th.
After the completion of the Kjaer operation, the signings for the defensive departments are done for this transfer window. Di Marzio claims that Milan and Pioli will continue the season with Romagnoli, Musacchio, Kjaer, and youngster Matteo Gabbia as their centre-back options.
