GdS: The tops and flops from Maldini’s signings as Milan director

AC Milan’s transfer business in the last handful of seasons has been largely praised with the club discovering some players that have risen to a new level with the Rossoneri.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Paolo Maldini’s time as Milan sporting director has seen a mixed bag of results when it comes to good or bad signings.

The newspaper classes the signings of Mike Maignan, Theo Hernandez, Pierre Kalulu, Sandro Tonali and Rafael Leao as being the major successes of Maldini’s time, which is hard to argue with.

They are all worth much more now than what Milan paid for them over the past few seasons and they help to form the spine of the team.

For the flops, they have picked out Malick Thiaw, who only joined the club in the summer and has had limited involvement so far. As well as him, there is the loan of Sergino Dest, Yacine Adli, Charles De Ketelaere and Divock Origi.

Considering all of these players are in their first season at the club, it may be unfair to label them as flops just yet.
