AC Milan added three points to their tally last night as they beat Bologna by two goals to nil. Charles De Ketelaere, who made his first start for the club, was a contributing factor to the success.
The Belgian created the first goal all by himself, winning the ball back and then setting off with full pace towards Bologna’s goal. Rafael Leao got a bit lucky with the finish but it’s not the last time we will see the two combine.
As highlighted by Tuttosport (via MilanNews), De Keteleaere looked like the piece of the puzzle that Milan have missed. He impressed with his physique and also had a great vision for the game, always making himself available.
Milan were also helped by the fact that Giroud was back from start. He played 90 minutes for the first time since the Marseille friendly and the finish on his goal was a perfect example of what he can do with good service.
Perfect for De Ketelaere and Leao, who both are very good at that. It was really ‘a super Milan’, as the newspaper headlined the section.
Finally after a decade, we have a chance to watch a real creative attacking midfielder play for Milan.
De Ketelaere was so good .
He pressed, he recovered balls , he created chances. Someone that actually can survey the field and put a ball over the top of the defense.
No more Brahim Diaz who can only see over the top of a fire hydrant .
Let’s hope Maldini surprise us with a midfielder before the end of the window, or maybe even a RW.
I didn’t like Pioli’s comments that Adli can’t play on the right,
that came after last week he also said that he can’t play in double Pivot. So that only leaves the n10 spot for Adli, which means hewon’t get much starting 11 time
Agree about Adli.
We keep hearing about transfer targets that would be perfect for us due to their ability to play in different positions, and then when we get them, Pioli is like ‘no, he can’t play here, can’t play there either, he’s an attacking midfielder’.
Good thing that Ancelotti didn’t say that about Pirlo. By the way, Adli’s long passes remind me so much of Pirlo, he has unbelivable vision and precision.
One of Ancelotti’s best traits as a coach is that he adapts to the players at his disposal and is not an ego maniac.
Unlike Conte who will come in and start selling and buying players who only fit his system.
But in Pirlo’s case, at the beginning , Carlo didn’t want to play him. I remember an interview where he was talking about how Berlusconi was pressuring him to play Pirlo alongside Rui Costa. And Ancelotti said that Pirlo and Rui Costa will play in the same line up together only if Milan is allowed to play with 12 players. The following season Pirlo was playing in his deep play maker spot, Rui Costa was in his CAM spot and Milan won their 6th UCL trophy, followed by the scudetto
Let’s hope Pioli is willing to change his mind as well.
It’s motivation for Adli to prove him wrong. Adli played yesterday and almost scored. There will be a lot of rotation this season.
Milan has lacked creativity ever since Pirlo left. CDK is a player who makes the fans go “wow” after making those passes look so easy yet elegant. Just like the one to Kalulu last night. What a beauty!
Hmmm let’s see who do I trust on where best to field players…a Scudetto winning coach or random person on the internet? 🤔

Anyway, I saw that pass to Kalulu which he failed to convert and I was like, “woah! Atta boy.” I think this guy will help us unlock defenses. Then there’s Adli who for me is the most shrewd piece of business Maldini has done considering the amount paid. His time will come and when it does, we’ll never be able to get enough of him.

Yes, there’s obviously going to be a lot of rotations of players on the field this season! Leao – Rebic, Messias – Saelemaekers, De Ketelaere – Diaz, Giroud – Origi and Adli around here. There will be a lot of quality and tough games in a short time, and we need healthy competition in the team.
And can De Ketelaere revive his Belgian Team-mate : Saelemaekers ? He was good when we had a good AMC (Calhanoglu).
We will so complete if Saelemaekers back to his prime performances.
