Tuttosport: How Pioli could deploy the Christmas tree formation for Juve-Milan

Following a long stop, Italian football will be back with a bang next Friday: Juventus vs. AC Milan in the second leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final. Of course, this isn’t an easy task for the Rossoneri. 

Stefano Pioli will have to deal without Theo Hernandez, Samu Castillejo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic for this clash, making a tough job even tougher. According to Tuttosport, as cited by MilanNews.it, he is studying various solutions to the problem.

Yesterday, at the training ground, the former Fiorentina boss tried the classic 4-3-1-2 formation, with Ante Rebic and Rafael Leao supported by Hakan Calhanoglu. However, he is also considering another system.

The Christmas tree formation, in other words a 4-3-2-1, could be deployed with Calhanoglu and Lucas Paqueta acting as the support for Rebic. The midfield would consist of Franck Kessie, Ismael Bennacer and Jack Bonaventura.

According to Sky Italia (via Milanlive.it), Milan have scheduled an in-house friendly for Saturday, which will provide Pioli with many answers (read more here).
