GdS: All the question marks surrounding Milan’s attacking department

The future of AC Milan’s attacking department seems to be up in the air with a few players not certain of staying for next season, a report claims.

According to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Olivier Giroud is currently the only certainty in terms of being at Milan next season as he will soon renew his contract for another season, but then there are a number of question marks.

Then there is Rafael Leao, who has sent the club positive signals over a renewal, but now Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are aiming to turn that positivity into a signature and to close the matter in the next 10-15 days.

In June Brahim Diaz’s two-year loan will end and there is a €22m option to buy in Milan’s favour plus a €26-27m buy-back for Real Madrid. Diaz feels part of the project, he is grateful to the club and would gladly stay at Milanello to continue his journey.

The Rossoneri management intend to ask the reigning European champions for a discount, while in Spain they are considering bringing him back to sell for a capital gain.

Charles De Ketelaere has made 31 appearances for Milan this season since his move from Club Brugge but has often seemed lost. However, the amount invested and the fact he is still in an adaptation period means he should stay.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has suggested that he wants to keep playing but the club will reflect and make a decision at the end of the season, while the same applies to Divock Origi who arrived in the summer to replace Giroud but has disappointed with his return of two goals.

Ante Rebic has also had a poor season and the fact he has a contract until 2025 – combined with a €3.5m net salary – is pushing Milan towards putting him on the market in June.
