CorSport: Milan willing to include duo in De Paul deal but Udinese want Hauge

By Isak Möller -

Milan have been heavily linked with Rodrigo De Paul in the last week or so as Hakan Calhanoglu’s renewal hasn’t been signed. However, it’s not an easy operation and that’s mainly due to the price tag.

According to Corriere Dello Sport (via MilanNews), Udinese want to cash in €35-40m from the departure of De Paul. This is too much for Milan, who are evaluating different solutions to secure the services of the Argentine.

The Rossoneri could include one or two technical counterparts in the deal to lower the cash amount. Matteo Gabbia and Tommaso Pobega are two players that could be sacrificed, but it’s believed that Udinese want Jens Petter Hauge.

The Norwegian youngster didn’t play much towards the end of the season but it’s clear that he’s very talented. Therefore, even if it means getting De Paul, parting ways with him permanently would be far from ideal.

    1. Indeed!

In less than 800 minutes of playing time with Milan (Serie A & EL), Hauge has scored 5 goals and 1 assist.

Imagine if Pioli gave Hauge a little bit more playing time and trust as he did with the loanees, i.e. Dalot (bad defender) and Brahim (a potential younger version of Suso), Hauge could have done probably even better.

Keep him at least for next season as he’s settled down with his new team and the new league and new country, he should be able o show his huge potential.

Don’t make the same mistake as the management did with Locatelli!

  1. The most important of these will be Gabbia, don’t let him go. Try to keep Hauge as well but IMO, Gabbia is the future of Milan CB with Tomori. Milan needs to stop negotiating like this. I’d rather just go for a different target if we’re going to have to give up 2 of our promising youths…

  2. Pobega and Gabbia are also clearly very talented in their positions and positions we don’t have depth in I might add. Instead of selling off our young talent and living to regret it (Andre Silva-now we have a striker issue, and Locatelli for example-we had pick up meite last window) Milan doesn’t do itself any favours, instead of shooting themselves in the foot and spending/gambling on other players why don’t you let these young talents grow and flourish in their positions, I’d prefer Gabbia as back up to Kjaer who might not play every game, even over romagnoli who is probably leaving anyways. Kalulu can play centre back but I’d like to think he’d alternate with Calabria at right back. Tonali and Pobega would be perfect alternatives to Bennacer and kessie instead of going out and getting another meite. Don’t put yourself in the same situation, I don’t need to get started on Hauge, Iet the man play and grow, be patient with a project before you scratch it and move on to something short term that doesn’t work out in the long run. Enough is enough. If they go through with this they clearly haven’t learned a thing from their past misdealing.

    1. 100% agree with you. Spending fortunes instead of developing players is what caused the last few years’ problems; time to try a more sustainable approach.

    2. It just makes no sense sacrificing promising young players that play different positions you need depth in and that you’ve already had issues with, players that you’ve already started integrating into the teams project, just to gamble on one player in one position. You don’t know if de Paul will succeed at Milan, he could flop and then what? Sell him for half the price and we lose youngsters that could’ve grown with the project, potentially worth double what they’re worth now. THATs a better guarantee and a gamble I’d rather take, Milan can’t afford to make any more mistakes in this department it’s cost them 10 years they couldn’t surely be this stupid, they should know better. Even the fans do, it’s not rocket science here.

  3. Sacrificing any young players (Gabbia, Pobega, Hauge, or Kalulu) in the Team to get De Paul is senseless! Never make the same mistake you make on Locatelli again. It’s not easy for player (Hauge) from another league to easily react in Italian league within a season. The (Hauge) way he save the Team against Samp., Napoli match is wonderful, he needs the time to adapt and connect with his Teammates. Remember when Milan played against Hauge Team in Europa League qualifier. He shows what he is capable of. Even Kessie, Bennacer, and Calabria all feel the heat and threats that night at San Siro.

Leao & Krunic has spend more minutes with the team more than Hauge, how many goals have them scored? Young Leao get tired easily and Krunic (having a player with no important part given to the team). Pioli must think good before making any Team selection.

Not importantly we sign De Paul for $35M-$40M. There are alternatives like Nikola Vlasic ($20M-$25M) who is an attacking midfielder compare to De Paul who is a Central Midfielder.

If they needs to sacrifice any players, we have Krunic, Caldara, Conti, and Laxalt, they can choose from them. DON’T TOUCH OUR YOUNGSTERS.!!

    1. I second this. Hauge goals in Milan are pure world class. The first thought that came to my mind is has God decided to bless us with another world footballer… He has the potential. Though I might not be member of any scouting team. But it has been long I see a talented young player like hauge in Milan. Leao, hauge, Colombo, kalulu, Daniel maldini, pobega, gabbia are really good. When they touch ball u immediately see their talents. What they need is physicality and hard work and mentorship which maldini, zlantan, and giroud can give. Though I might not like giroud, but he can impart on the life of this youngsters. So time is really crucial. What I will suggest is if Milan will allow this players leave there should include lots of conditions that will favour Milan. Milan is no longer a small team in midtable but a team playing in champions League. So let us be wise.
