Deulofeu hints at regret over summer AC Milan exit

By MaaxiAngelo -

Gerard Deulofeu was one of the most colourful characters of Milan’s 2016/2017 season, but left this summer in a transfer home to his childhood club FC Barcelona, something that he now regrets.

In a chat with ExtraTime while being back in Italy with Barcelona  to take on Serie A champions Juventus in Champions League midweek he said:

“Milan? It was a very positive experience for me, I was happy there. Everyone welcomed me exceptionally well – coach, staff, teammates – as I needed the warmth of the people,” the former Everton man revealed.

“I played a lot of matches and I was happy, they were a wonderful few months. There were times in the past when I did not enjoy playing, but I started to rediscover my love for football in Milan.

“I felt good both on and off the pitch. I must take advantage of the opportunity I have at Barcelona.

“Differences between Serie A and La Liga? La Liga is another story, there are players of a much higher level. However, in Italy they compensate for this with organisation and the defences are more difficult to break down.

“Clubs like Juventus, Napoli, Roma and AC Milan possess so much talent, but you cannot compare them to Barcelona or Real Madrid. In the last few years, La Liga has dominated European football.”
