A source close to Fiorentina recently revealed to Sempre Milan the latest developments in the rumoured Matías Fernández-Suso swap deal between Fiorentina and Milan.
While both clubs are indeed very interested in making the deal, Milan has hesitated on confirming the trade. Due to the ages of the players (Fernández is 30 and Suso is 22), the Rossoneri want more than just the Chilean midfielder in exhange for their Spanish youngster. Vincenzo Montella is very eager to bring his former player to the San Siro, however given the fact that Milan initiated first contact for Fernàndez’s services, it is Milan’s task to make an acceptable offer, rather than Fiorentina’s to put up more for Suso’s services. Given the way Milan conducts business, a deal for the midfielder’s services now looks unlikely.

The 30-year-old started his career with Colo-Colo in Chile before moving to Villareal in Spain in 2007, Sporting Club De Portugal in 2009, and finally Fiorentina in 2012. He is known for his laser accurate passing ability and creativity in driving the attack forward. Fernández played some of his best football under Montella, and the new Rossoneri coach would surely welcome his former charge to Casa Milan with open arms.
The ball, so the speak, is now firmly in Milan’s court. Only time will tell if the Rossoneri will take advantage of the present opportunity, or see themselves left in the dust once more.
