GdS: Excellent relationship with Gazidis could save Gattuso from sack

By Oliver Fisher -

Gennaro Gattuso could remain as head coach of AC Milan if he achieves a top finish this season, according to a report.

Gattuso’s future with the Rossoneri has come under intense scrutiny in recent weeks following a poor run of form, which has in turn taken Champions League qualification out of their own hands.

A number of names have already been touted as his potential successor, including the likes of Maurizio SarriAntonio Conte, Eusebio Di Francesco and even Mauricio Pochettino.

There was even speculation that Gattuso would be sacked regardless of whether he managed to achieve Champions League qualification, but La Gazzetta dello Sport provide a fresh update.

As per the report, Gattuso’s future prospects of staying at the club has increased in the past few weeks despite the downturn in form which has seen his side slip.

One of the reasons for this is apparently down to the manager’s good relationship with CEO Ivan Gazidis, the man who will make the final call on who will be manager going into next season.

However, the report also notes that Gattuso could choose to resign from his position, even if the club elect to keep him on.
