SM: Maldini working on exits – the five certainties and eight doubts he faces

By Oliver Fisher -

While the AC Milan management wait for the sale of the club to go through in the coming weeks, there is already planning underway for the summer window.

As our colleagues at SempreMilan.it report, there is a lot of attention on how Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara will strengthen but they are also duty bound to sell any players that are not deemed part of the plans, to free funds and slots in the squad.

The certainties

Franck Kessie and Alessio Romagnoli are both destined to leave on free transfers, while Milan are hoping to sell winger Samu Castillejo for €4-5m euros given he has a market in Spain.

Fode Ballo-Touré can also leave for the same amount meanwhile, and Tiemoue Bakayoko will not be bought with contacts underway between the Rossoneri and Chelsea to discuss his future.

The doubts

At the moment it seems unlikely that Milan will buy Junior Messias permanently unless Crotone give a discount, and Ante Rebic remains a puzzle because he was decisive against Lazio but will have to remain consistent until the end of the season. If an offer of more than €25m arrives, the Croatian could also leave.

Daniel Maldini and Marko Lazetic could be heading for a loan spell and Tommaso Pobega may be loaned out again too if Milan find better players in that position and reinforce the midfield.

Brahim Diaz will also be evaluated, and Maldini and Massara could offer his early return to Real Madrid to try to snatch Marco Asensio. It will be necessary to understand how Alessandro Florenzi will return after a second knee surgery this season, and finally Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s future remains wide open.

    1. Totally believe and conquer with you in toto, everyone that has played this season should be given some credit, no matter who is is, even the so little praised Bakayoko was useful at a time, so now all we need it the scuditto cos it’s been long we waited for this, never believed inter would lift the league title before Milan but now is our time, transfer should be on hold for now, how do you think players like Diaz, Krunic, Junior and Rebic would feel like to know that their efforts would be “thanks for your service it’s time to go” when we have 4 most important remaining games in a decede. Kessie and Skipo are different issues

  1. Keep Rebic for sure! He’s so valuable and versatile and can play so many different positions. Perfect player to have for next year as we move closer to our bigger Champions League goals.

  2. Not another loan for Pobega please. He is atleast worth 4th choice in the midfield. Can also play in more advanced roles too.

  3. Rebic is great at high pressing. Probably our best asset when we need to add some muscles to keep opponents shut. Considering our other attackers are not that athletic and Leao is not consistent yet, I would keep him to let the team be more versatile.
Also, he is very good at long-distance attempts. The point where we lack a lot.

  4. Diaz is a player for 2nd half not a 90mins player not a discount but the player value should be between 10-15mill Euros at best. He isn’t a starter anytime soon

    1. I think if Pioli invested in Daniel Maldini the same way he invested in Diaz, Daniel would develop and show more talent than Diaz who is only regressing.

  5. I wonder why the management bothers about those ones, the contracts they should rather focus on is that of Bennacer and Leao, if they are not signed before they run into their last year in june< then we may have another calha/donna; romag/kessie case on our hands.

  6. Diaz unfortunately is like the 12 week old puddle who has received some training, yet still sh%ts in the living room.Daniele Maldini needs game time. A loan is a must.
Messiah not good enough, but he has worked his a$$ off.
Rebic needs to understand that at AC Milan one good game every 2 months is simply not good enough. Forza!

  7. To be honest what Milan needs most is an established attacking midfielder, right winger and a top central striker. We may also back up for a player who can play from both wings upfront.

  8. rubbish up date. instead of u to be talking about the scudutto you are busy posting nonsense.Oliver fisher is a Dollard.
