In just a few minutes, Milan’s clash against Lulle will kick off and the Rossoneri will be looking to continue their unbeaten run, which currently stands at 24 games. Off the pitch, there are other matters to deal with.
Hakan Calhanoglu and Gigio Donnarumma are both sitting on expiring contracts and given their importance, Milan want to lock them down. The negotiations, however, are very tough indeed although there is optimism.
In an interview with Sky Italia, as cited by MilanNews.it, technical director Paolo Maldini spoke about the situation and confirmed that the renewal talks are underway. As said, therefore, there is optimism.
“Every week is good, the contacts are there, the clarity is extreme. Let’s move forward on the various negotiations, there isn’t a week that can be better than the others,” he said.
In addition to Calhanoglu and Donnarumma, Zlatan Ibrahimovic also has just eight months left on his contract with the Rossoneri. Despite his age, judging by the words of Maldini, the Swede could stay for one more season.
“Ibrahimovic? I said that the expiring players were not only Donnarumma and Calhanoglu. I played until I was 41, every player is different from the others, Ibra is special,” he concluded.
