Milan close in on Biglia as Lazio give up on renewal

By Anthony Torgrude -

Multiple sources have confirmed Biglia as a target for the new Milan, with Sky now reporting that Lazio have decided to abandon the quest for a renewal as the player has eyes on the San Siro.

Lucas Biglia is currently owned by Lazio and has one year remaining on his contract. The club has been actively pursuing a renewal until now. The defensive midfielder was interested in a move away last summer but one did not materialize.

Now with the Chinese consortium fully in control and being very active in the transfer window (before it officially opens) Milan are in pole position to sign the player.

According to Calcio Mercato, the deal is already done with a transfer fee of €18m+4m in bonus and Biglia will earn €2.5m per year with the ability to make it €3m a year through bonuses.

An agreement in principle has been reported on before but this is the closest the deal has ever been. Milan have already signed officially Matteo Musacchio and Franck Kessie has taken his medicals and Ricardo Rodriguez has his tests scheduled for next week so Biglia looks to be the fourth signing of the Chinese era all before the window opens.
