MN: Pioli can count on five key contributors again starting from Monza

After weeks of being in injury difficulties there is at last some good news for Stefano Pioli in view of the upcoming games before the World Cup.

MilanNews report that Simon Kjaer, Mike Maignan and Charles De Ketelaere expected to make their return against Monza which is huge for Pioli as he now has more solutions to give Milan more quality and experience.

Maignan’s recovery is seen at Milanello as the most important of all for two reasons; the first being the decisive nature of the goalkeeper, the second being a matter of leadership in the dressing room and on the field.

Maignan actually wanted to play against Verona on Sunday, as he revealed last night: “I told the coach and the doctor that I wanted to play from the first minute against Verona, but this injury is dangerous and I listened to them who knew more than me and I stopped to work and get ready.”

Kjaer’s recovery is also very important because of the great experience he has, and it takes some of the pressure off the starting pairing of Fikayo Tomori and Matteo Gabbia, with Pierre Kalulu also now able to stay at right-back.

The curiosity is growing to see De Ketelaere back in action too and the hope is that the time away from the pitch could have helped his mental clarity so he can better demonstrate his technical skills after the forced rest due to muscle fatigue.

Finally, some positive signs came from Divock Origi who looked lively at the weekend against Verona after injuries held him back all summer, and Ante Rebic has also fully recovered and added another goal contribution by setting up Sandro Tonali for the winner.
