Report: Milan ponder swap deal involving red-hot Colombo and €25m Sassuolo star

By Isak Möller -

Ahead of the season, AC Milan decided to send Lorenzo Colombo out on loan, more specifically to SPAL. The youngster has been fantastic for the Serie B side, which is good news for the Rossoneri.

In his first five league appearances for the club, he has bagged three goals and one assist. Milan are delighted with his start and are already thinking about the future and what it holds for the striker, as per Serie B News.

The Rossoneri could decide to focus on Colombo for next season but he could also be involved in a swap deal. Paolo Maldini is very interested in Sassuolo star Giacomo Raspadori but he has a price tag of around €25m.

With the inclusion of Colombo in the deal, Milan could get a €9m reduction, roughly. Then again, everything will depend on the future of the young striker as keeping him might also be a wise choice.

    1. Agreed. Belotti on a free next year, Colombo moving up the ranks and our current strikers sounds good to me and also very financially smart.

  1. No. Colombo will be better than Raspadori. I like Raspadori but Colombo also has the physique. Bring in Raspadori if you want but do not get rid of Colombo!

  2. I agree with everyone here if Colombo is showing progress. He’s only 19 and if he scores 15-20 goals in Serie B this season I would say this is major progress. Then one more season on loan at a mid-table Serie A club to raise the level and confirm the progress. In the meantime Belotti on a free, plus Giroud and Pellegri next season. If Colombo keeps scoring then he can come into the first team for 2023-2024, still only age 21, along with Belottti and Pellegri. I think that’s the best progression.

    1. I bet that’s the plan. Probably a spell at a team like Genoa or Samp. Hope to see him to continue to grow and become the next great striker!

  3. Milan are great at letting talent leave and we keep one donkey who’s salary will cover many players . Piss off dolkar Frank and keep the youngster hopefully another inter player maybe to be a success ? It’s happened before

  4. If Pellegri cannot give optimal contribution, while Colombo can score 15-20 this season, Milan can call Colombo back as third stiker in the next season.

    1. No, he needs to play. He won’t be ready to lead the line next season. I’d like to see him play for a mid-table club and score 10-15 goals in Serie A. Then he can come in and be a starter. Being third striker will stunt his growth. We will still have Giroud next season and probably Pellegri. Then Belotti might be available on a free, and there is also Azmoun, who is underrated and will also be free.

  5. Colombo should be loaned in Serie A next time. Why spend 16M and also lose Colombo for Raspadori? Colombo is bigger and is our own.Keep faith in him.

  6. Sure, i 100 percent agree with you. With Colombo I think he’s should be brought in for the next two seasons but with his progress this season next season he can be loan to a lower Seria a club to continue his growth and then be brought in for the 2022/2023 season. Because you can’t bring him and then make him third one second striker that’s mean you will be suppressing his talent.
