Tuttosport: Milan are working to thin out the squad – the seven players who can leave

A lot of the focus has been on signings, but the AC Milan management are also working to thin out the squad to make room for incomings.

As Tuttosport (via MilanNews) reports this morning, the list of players who can leave this summer includes Junior Messias, Divock Origi, Ante Rebic, Fodé Ballo-Touré, Charles De Ketelaere and Alexis Saelemaekers.

Matteo Gabbia must also be added to the list, but he seems destined to leave on loan as Milan would like to maintain control over the Primavera graduate given that he is 23 and has accrued a fair bit of first team experience.

Torino are keen on Messias, Origi and Rebic have admirers above all in Turkey, while Ballo-Touré is in the crosshairs of OGC Nice and Bologna who are trying to convince the Senegalese full-back.

Then there is the De Ketelaere dilemma. He was Milan’s big signing last summer but the Belgian has never convinced and that’s why he’s on the market, but he would like to stay to redeem the disappointing year that it has just ended.

  1. Not Gabbia, we need home grown and back up Kjaer not as young as he was and Kalulu Could be needed at RB, no point leaving ourselves short of cover

    1. Loan would be perfect for Gabbia. He needs to get a season with more minutes to come back stronger.

We have Caldara to fill in for the lists and as 5th CB, whom we cannot loan out this season as his contract is down to 1 year. So we might as well use his last year to give Gabbia the opportunity to make the next step.

  2. I think they should keep Saelemaekers because he’s a good squad player. And considering Pulisic is going to have niggling injuries all season we need him as cover. De Ketelaere might actually be better now people have lowered their expectations of him. The rest I’m not bothered about.

  3. Where’s “Mue” the Uber fan? – still working himself up into a vortex of anger that we’re trying to improve the squad? 😆

  4. So they want to get rid of the Belgian bunch. Aren’t they Moncada’s inventions? And he’s supposed to be some hotshot headhunter.

    1. I don’t think this has anything to do with nationality 🤣. Tonali (who you insist wasn’t talking to Newcastle first and could’ve been sold without his consent) is Italian. Rebic is croatian. Messias is Brazilian, Ballo-Touré is Senegalese etc etc and they’re all up for the chop.

      1. I see you don’t read posts at all. But since you still drag that Tonali saga around, not only was here posted an interview with Guiseppe Riso the agent of Tonali who explained why and how he signed for Toons. There was a comprehensive report on how Milan are focused on Belgium for cheap talent o Moncada’s initiative and how CdK, Saele, Vranckx are from Moncada’s shopping list.

Go watch that youtuber of yours, Football Kush or whatever he calls himself. A reliable source indeed.

        1. yeah your Maldini is the one who pushed for CDK but go on keep on blaming everything on everyone other than Maldini as if like Maldini was some sort of living god that Milan should be grateful to have

        2. Ted, Moncada is a scout. He give recommendation about potential players to the club, or for previous years, to Maldini as sporting director. That’s precisely his job, providing recommendation about potential players.

The next step, what to do with the recommendation, is Sporting Directors job. It is Maldini that decided to push for certain players and not push for others. For example, it is him that decided to push for Sanches, CDK, Botman. It is him that decided to purchase Theo, Leao, Tomori, and others. It is him that decided not to pursue Alvarez, Enzo, Kvara, or others that’s rumored to us.

And it is up to Pioli to use and improve the players that already bought by the club.

So it is not like every players that is success at club is Maldinis good job and every one that flop is Moncada invention. It just didn’t work that way.

          1. The group you are representing then shouldn’t think every failure belongs to Maldini. It just does not work that way either.

Alvarez would definitely come to Milan to be coached by Pioli instead of Gurdiola. And how much Mancity paid to his club?
Sure Milan has the chance to sign Arda guler but did not do it 😀

  5. Selling deadwood really difficult . Player like rebic ,origi, florenzi dont need playing time anymore and will choose sit on bench till their contract expire. Ballo toure & junior messias maybe want to move to other club for playing time . Saladmaker dont have suitor or club interesting , CDK hard to sell without loss ( need to sell 28m euro minimum to avoid loss ) . There is also caldara ( 1 years contract left ) must sell

    1. If not sell or at least offer Messias, Origi, Rebic, Adli and Balo You’re and even CDK to Saudi Pro League and use the funds for world class RW and striker!!!

This transfer management malarky is easy work😂
