GdS: 10 Milan players free to leave before the start of next season – the names

By Oliver Fisher -

There are as many as 10 AC Milan players who could depart between now and the end of the window to free up funds and squad spots, a report claims.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport reports, Milan are not just focusing on addition signings to complete the squad available to Stefano Pioli but also the exits of those no longer deemed a fit for the project.

Devis Vasquez: He arrived in January 2023 but will leave Milan without a senior appearance to free up the slot as a non-EU player. The Rossoneri bought him from Guaranì for around €500k and gave him a three and a half year deal.

Fode Ballo-Toure: The full-back should leave Milan after two seasons. He arrived in June 2021 from Monaco, he has never convinced Pioli as a deputy to Theo Hernandez.

Mattia Caldara: He has played just twice for Milan since joining from Juventus after a long ordeal with injuries. Caldara was out on loan at Venezia and Spezia in the last two seasons, with both relegated, and a contract termination cannot be ruled out.

Matteo Gabbia: Gabbia remains in the balance. He is useful for rotations and squad lists given he is a Primavera graduate, having played 51 games in the last four seasons, but the 24-year-old could leave to play more consistently.

Yacine Adli: The mystery of Milanello. He had a great 2022 preseason after coming back from his loan at Bordeaux but then made only six appearances in Serie A (one as a starter). He could go out on loan.

Charles De Ketelaere: The most expensive investment of recent years after Milan paid over €30m to sign him from Club Brugge. The Belgian is liked by PSV and some Premier League clubs and could leave for the right offer, given the switch to a 4-3-3 will do him no favours either.

Junior Messias: Messias hasn’t done badly in the last two years with 12 goals in 68 games, but his time with Milan seems to be over. He is 32 years old and is outside the plans, with Torino linked.

Ante Rebic: Rebic is ready to say goodbye to Milan after four seasons. In the first two he did well with 23 goals but last year he scored just three goals in 31 games. Pioli counted on him but last season his trust decreased and thus an exit seems likely.

Divock Origi: Milan chose to sign Origi on a €4m net per year deal until 2026 and thought they had the perfect deputy to Olivier Giroud, but with only two goals in 36 games and numerous physical problems the Belgian can leave. He has admirers in Turkey.

Marko Lazetic: He arrived in January 2022 with the name of ‘new Vlahovic’ but is destined to leave on loan. Last year he played for six months at Altach in Austria and didn’t score in 10 games. He too has a contract until 2026.

      1. Also it wasn‘t completely out of the question that we would use him in a pinch if Maignan (and Tata) would have gotten reinjured.

      2. If I understand correctly, non-EU slots only affect player registration, but Vasquez was not in Milan’s 25 players list last season.

  1. Most important players to leave In my opinion: Rebic – Fode Ballo – Caldara for any fee. Origi for at least 5mil. And Messias 5 – 8 mill…

Adli Charles Gabbia – send on loan.

  2. New management is definitely a lot more hands on and aggressive.
That‘s not necessarily better automatically but it is clear that they have a vision and didn‘t replace Maldini for the sake of replacing him.

  3. So wait… if we release or sell Vasquez, we suddenly have another non-EU slot? That’s a no Brainer. That means we could sign Chukwueze and Taremi.

    1. No, that’s not how it works, Milan can only register the contract of ONE between Taremi or Chuk after they sell another non-EU such as Vasquez. Afterwards, no more non-EU signing from abroad even if Milan sell another non-EU abroad.

There is no way a Serie A club can sign more than 2 non-EU from abroad, this is a hard cap.

    1. This was necessary as others said. If we didn’t sign a Non-Eu player that window we would have lost the option this summer.

    2. 🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂bro it’s actually the total opposite. You should thank Maldini for signing the cheapest possible non-EU spot slot. They were ahead of the game on that one. Sheesh

    1. add CDK to the List. Id have a ball if they were our best players and lead us to a title. Blown candles, wishful thinking thouhh.

  4. Lazetic loan to other club, adili stay if change formation to 433 but sell if still 4231, origi sell if ACM have budget buy striker but can stay if ACM all in budget to RW starter, gabbia loan to other serie A club. The rest must be sell to give room for new player. For CDK , he maybe can success as false nine in other club but not in ACM , putting him in RW bad idea too because he dont have speed / pace also weak body balance, the best ACM can do are using him as chip swap player or recoup as many transfer fee from him

  5. Pobega, Krunich, Mesias, Rebich, Gabia and so on can you understand Pioli that they’s quality aren’t for Milan, especially your favorite player Krunich!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
