Real Madrid eye AC Milan captain in bid to overhaul squad

By SempreMilan -

According to reports from Fijaches.NET Leonardo Bonucci is wanted by Real Madrid, as the Los Blancos president Florentino Pérez seeks to add another gem in his star-studded squad.

This report comes months after Bonucci swapped Juventus for Milan in a controversial €42 million move – one which also saw the veteran Italian defender immediately promoted to be Milan’s new captain.

After 18 games in the Rossoneri colours, however, Bonucci has done little to justify his huge cost in the eyes of the Milanisti. The report then came as a surprise, especially in the wake of the centre-back’s own-goal in last night’s Europa League group stage fixture against Austria Wien.

The other party in this rumour, Real Madrid, have also been in the doldrums after finding themselves 10 points adrift of Barcelona in the La Liga table. Even with more than half of the season left to play, President Pérez has already laid out plans to overhaul the Real Madrid squad.

Fijaches.NET has linked Bonucci to Real Madrid as a result, with the Spanish website claiming that the Milan captain will force a move should Real Madrid present him with an official offer. The publication goes on to state that the main reason for Bonucci’s exit would be the ongoing failings of Vincenzo Montella’s management at Milan.

Bonucci was previously linked to Premier League clubs Chelsea and Manchester City before he inked a deal to join Juventus’ rivals Milan after a falling out with Bianconeri manager Massimiliano Allegri.
