AC Milan face decisions regarding virtually half of their squad over the next 12 months with 13 players set to leave as it stands.
Wednesday’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews) assesses the situation regarding the players in question, beginning by mentioning how the goalkeeping department could undergo wholesale changes.
Gianluigi and Antonio Donnarumma are both on deals which expire in 2021 and their futures are expected to be linked, while Asmir Begovic is on loan until the end of this season and Pepe Reina – currently on loan at Aston Villa – is on a deal until 2021.
In defence, Simon Kjaer’s loan will also end but he seems to have a good chance of being redeemed and therefore remaining with the Rossoneri, while Mateo Musacchio’s contract (until 2021) could be allowed to expire.
It will also be necessary to see is PSV Eindhoven sign Ricardo Rodriguez permanently as his deal runs until the end of next season.
In the midfield the departures of Lucas Biglia and Giacomo Bonaventura are now certain, while Alexis Saelemaekers’ loan will also expire, with the Rossoneri able to make it a permanent deal for €3.5m.
Everything and more has been said about Ibrahimovic’s future, but in 2021 the contract of another Milan player – namely Hakan Calhanoglu – also expires, but he seems confident of a renewal. Finally, next year Ante Rebic’s loan from Eintracht Frankfurt will also end, so it becomes a question of the club’s intentions.
