22:05 CEST: Bennacer STAYS

According to MilanXtra, Matteo Moretto and Fabrizio Romano confirmed during their deadline-day live stream that Bennacer will stay at Milan despite the exit rumours.

21:50 CEST: ABRAHAM OFFICIAL

AC Milan have officially confirmed the signing of Tammy Abraham from AS Roma on a season-long loan deal for 2024-25. He has taken the No.90 shirt, it has been confirmed.

21:30 CEST: SAELEMAEKERS OFFICIAL

AC Milan have officially confirmed that Alexis Saelemaekers has joined AS Roma on a loan deal until the end of the 2024-25 season. The Abraham announcement can’t be far away, therefore…

20:40 CEST: De Zerbi fuels the fire

Marseille head coach Roberto De Zerbi has seemingly confirmed that they are interested in signing Ismael Bennacer, but with time ticking by it feels like a difficult deal to do.

“You have to sign players only if they bring something extra. Bennacer is not an OM player so I can’t talk about it but we all know his qualities,” he said.

20:15 CEST: Abraham to feature tomorrow?

A league regulation means that Abraham could feature against Lazio tomorrow despite the fact we are still waiting for his official announcement. In addition to that, he has chosen his shirt number.

AC Milan have announced the signing of Damir Zukić who has joined the club on a permanent basis from ND Primorje. He will be part of the Futuro side.

    just sell Saelemakers without Abraham and get rid of Jovic, the latter can also stay and play only Serie A (he just doesn’t have to start if it’s completely necessary and Morata, new ST, Camarda and Okafor are injured or tired).

    that gives you 2 spots. Moncada has Kone in the bag, we just need a ST, not Abraham, not some mediocre MF, a quality signing. can it be done just once? one 30-40M signing?! do deferral, loan+formula, resale %… do smth!

  2. Buy Jovic at the last minute in 2023. Wait until December so he’s ready to play with the team (meanwhile you’re out of Scudetto reach and out of UCL group stages). Jovic exceeds expectations in goals scored. He finally does the whole preseason with the team. Then get him out at the last minute in 2024. Buy Abraham at the last minute in 2024. Insanity.

    3. It’s clear they have no idea what they are doing or what we need. No plan in place for the sporting side of the club.

      But that’s what you get when you’re operating without a sporting director but a bunch of Wall Street analysts.

  3. The way Jovic has been treated is almost unprofessional. We could just not renew him and now we would have space in the list for another signing. He did well last year, scoring many important goals in few minutes played.
    I can agree that tactically he is struggling as alone n9, but this we knew it before.

  4. Chelse the feeder club to milan.
    Lampard kicked tammy out of Chelsea, he also kicked rudiger out and tomori. Every decison lampard made was the wrong one tho. Tammy may surprise hes really tall and long legs and has a good first touch.

    1. Lampard was long gone when Rudiger left Chelsea. He also wasn’t kicked out. He left for Real Madrid as a free agent. Chelsea wanted to keep him.

      1. Lampard benched rudiger never played him. Lampard also hated pulisic, also an anecdote; he beatup 9/11 victims in a hotel in NY during a Mourning cermony.

        1. Pulisic had his best season ever under Lampard during the lockdown era, averaging over .5 xg+xa every game while starting on the left wing. His Chelsea career tanked as soon as Lampard left.

  5. It’s gonna sound funny but I genuinely prayed for a late move on osimhen as loand with obligation to buy, his situation is ideal for us.

    1. In defence of the management (who I’ve criticised in general for always taking the cheap short cut)

      Osimhen is reportedly going to sign for a Saudi club receiving close to €40mn/year wages. That’s astronomical. Chelsea offering him something closer to his current €10mn/year and he’s refusing due to the mega contract on the table waiting for him.

      These are numbers that are way way beyond the reach of most clubs in the world, I can’t blame the management here even if Osimhen is light years above the level of Abraham

  6. Abraham has my full support and I expect others to back him. An Origi 2.0 he is not.

    As far as Kone, that’s from done for Roma. We are still after him.

  8. Someone should explain and take responsibility for this much misjudged jovic renawal ,we were free from him ,they sign him and after a month want to get rid of him,this menagement realy needs some serious fix and resigns

  9. I thought this mercato was about adding missing puzzles and look for opportunities. All we really needed was a proper ST and a DM to complete our system for 433 where we started last summer. Instead we’re in for another revolution.

    MIDFIELD
    Another midfield revolution with Fofana, Vos and potentially Kone while getting rid of Pobega, Adli and potentially Bennacer. While I do agree Pobega and Adli should be moved, Bennacer along with Fofana is the only one able to play a double pivot and the only one able to come in as a DM. They could potentially spend over 100 millions in two summers on midfield which is still completely out of balance and weak to say the least.

    STRIKERS
    We’re also looking at revolution up front with Morata and Abraham coming in while Jovic is suddenly surplus and Colombo is… Well homegrown Italian.

    DEFENCE
    Emerson? I won’t even comment on that, we all saw his sluggishness. But I am happy about it cause he’ll make us appreciate Calabria more. And at least Pavlovic showed grinta.

    CONCLUSION
    All the players coming in are again coming from foreign leagues. Apart from Morata, non is used to or has experience in Seria A, non is used to Italy, non speaks Italian.

    And on top of it we’re with a new coach who of course had limited time in preparations due to Euros and slow mercato but he’s still lost after two games. Panicking and making changes for third straight game. Completely lost.

    If this season goes to sh*t, I hope these directors pay with their heads. Last summer heads rolled for much much less while surpassing targets.

    Weak ownership, weak management, weak coach, weak team.

    1. Somehow we’ll read here that the team is stronger. Yeah Fofana, Pavlovic and Morata have good overalls on FIFA. As you say it’s another revolution. Still no leader in this team, still no grinta and nobody with Serie A experience or understanding of what it means to wear these colors (not the grey/green/pink). New coach, new players, they will need time to adapt. Every summer it’s “we need time”. Push the expectations into the future, don’t worry fans Zlatan said that they think about the third star and Théo is happy, keep buying 140€ ugly jerseys.

      Now Fofana isn’t ready, Morata is injured (he shouldn’t dive like that in the penalty box it’s dangerous), Abraham won’t probably be ready now, Emerson is clearly not ready. And Milan is already late with 1 point in two games.

      Every time that I read here in the comments people acting like managers I find it funny (no offense) because none of us are professional managers but when I see this management we might as well put a random fan in charge.

      1. Facts, I said to a friend yesterday that a semi knowledgeable fan could have had a better window.

        Amazing to me that anyone would pay 20m for Musah in any window and haggle Udinese for Samardzic. That alone should get someone fired.

      2. The key difference between being an armchair manager v armchair director of sport/club owner is only the former have any actual qualifications or experience.

        Add in all of the backhanders and commissions, and egos, and fans should be scrutinising transfers very closely.

        Instead the crowd called out for more.

    Also we are still missing RB ,they throw away money for Emerson for nothing,he is worse than Calabria. They loaned Abraham and released Roma his 4,5 m € sallary and gave them Saele who has 1,2 m € , Roma can took Kone and can pay him 2 years of sallary for that money.

  12. The fact our only remaining target is someone who isn’t bound by the 7pm deadline so we probably have to watch the saga continue into next week, is the most “summer mercato 24” thing that could have happened today.

    Kone won’t come,Rabiot won’t come,Benny will stay,Jovic will stay.

    Welcome to Milan and hope he gets to some success. It’s a low risk signing. A loan. That’s it. Wonder if there was an option or if they would simply make it permanent on both sides for Saelesmaekers and Abraham.

    1. There’s no such thing as a ‘low risk’ signing especially when they’re paid seven figure salaries.

      Every signing disrupts and undermines existing players. This guy has just squeezed out Morata, Okafor and Jovic but there’ll probably all be given piddily minutes which will ensure none of them perform.

      How many times have we signed multiple strikers and watched them all struggle?

      And forget about seeing Carmada this season or any season.

  16. Benny can still leave for Saudis since their window is open until 2nd of September. At the same time Rabiot can still come as his replacmeent considering he’s free agent. So we’re still not totally safe from further team demolition.

    1. Team demolition? I would welcome Rabiot rather than Isma who isn’t getting back to his pre-injury form. Sad but true.

    2. Rabiot would be an upgrade. What are you talking about? Only matter would be his salary. When was the last time Bennacer ever performed? And what was demolished lol? We had upgrades. Pavlovic looks really good and Fofana is a definite upgrade.

      I fail to see evidence of what you have said.

      1. Because there are teams out there fighting fiercely whole summer already for Rabiot signing right?

        Apart from Fofana, Benny is the only one able to play a double pivot role and the only one capable of stepping into DM role. Fofana is no DM. Reijnders will never be a pivot player or a DM. Maybe an AM but he’s a pure wide playmaker, a mezz’ala.

        So yes we did not upgrade much for the system in place. Fofana and Pavlovic are the only reinforcements worth a mention.

  17. The market is closed. For me it’s 7.5 out of 10. What remains to be seen is if the new signings are utilized fully. I didn’t rate it higher because Emerson wasn’t my first choice, but we will see.

  19. Well, ‘silly season’ is finally over, thank the good Lord!

    Therefore, time has come for the coaching staff and management to focus on what really matters, that is, getting our beloved Milan back on track, integrating the newcomers into the squad and getting the ‘senators’ to play what they can, in short, make this team finally start playing quality football. And that’s it.

  20. 6.5/10 for mercato. Only Fofana and Pavlovic are somewhat improvements but that’s still only on paper, we need to see them play some more matches. Abraham on loan only is also a good deal.

    Morata was a budget buy, Emerson a waste.

    No proper reinforcements for the system in place (a DM). Apart from Fofana and Benny, we’re stuck with bunch of mezz’alas and runners for the two pivot system. Coach is still lost on what or who to play. I bet we’ll be seeing a change in formation real soon. Either a 433 or 343.

    But as always I do hope they prove me wrong and hit the ground running.

    1. Morata is by far our best signing.

      Serie A experience, and a winner.

      The rest I think cause more problems than solve. Even Pavlovic, who on paper is a good signing, means we’re staying another season with a new CB pairing.

      And we won’t know how he settles until he builds an understanding with the rest of the defence.

      Also if we don’t plug the massive hole in midfield it doesn’t matter who we have in defence.

      My prediction is that next summer we’ll be looking to sign players in the exact same positions – a new CB after we concede a load of goals due to our non-existent midfield, our non-existent midfield will need another revolution, and Morata AND Abraham AND Jovic AND Okafor will be tripping over each other in the box so we’ll need a new striker (so we’ll sign 3). Oh and we’ll either be on our third or fourth manager.

      Will anyone further up be moved on?
