Gds: Probable XIs for Hellas Verona vs. Milan – Diaz to be benched again

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli is likely to leave Spanish midfielder Brahim Diaz on the bench for the trip to Hellas Verona on Sunday night, a report claims.

Based on what has been reported by Saturday morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, Pioli is going to go with Franck Kessie as the attacking midfielder behind the attackers.

That leaves Diaz on the bench again as a useful impact substitute should he be needed. Sandro Tonali and Ismael Bennacer will play together behind Kessie in midfield.

The trusted defence will be unchanged with Mike Maignan in goal, Davide Calabria and Theo Hernandez on the flanks, and Fikayo Tomori partnered by Pierre Kalulu in the middle.

Junior Messias has the best chance of starting instead of Alexis Saelemaekers on the right-wing. Rafael Leao will play on the left with Olivier Giroud as the striker.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Calabria, Kalulu, Tomori, Theo Hernandez; Tonali, Bennacer; Messias, Kessie, Leao; Giroud.

Probable Verona XI (3-4-2-1): Montipò; Casale, Gunter, Ceccherini; Faraoni, Tameze, Ilic, Lazovic; Barak, Caprari; Simeone.
