MN: Probable XI to face Hellas Verona – Saelemaekers and Krunic to get the nod for Milan

By Euan Burns -

Both Alexis Saelemaekers and Rade Krunic will start against Hellas Verona on Sunday evening in a crucial match for the Rossoneri, a report claims.

As has been reported by Milan News in their predicted Milan eleven, it is Junior Messias and Ismael Bennacer who will miss the chance to start the biggest game of the season so far.

Much of Stefano Pioli’s team picks itself for the final three games of the season in which Milan needs seven points to clinch the Serie A title.

Mike Maignan will be in goal with Davide Calabria, Pierre Kalulu, Fikayo Tomori and Theo Hernandez in defence.

Sandro Tonali and Franck Kessie will make up the midfield two. Rafael Leao, Krunic and Saelemaekers will play in behind Olivier Giroud.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Alessandro Florenzi will be fit enough to make the bench for Milan and they will be joined by Ante Rebic.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Calabria, Kalulu, Tomori, Theo; Tonali, Kessie; Saelemaekers, Krunic, Leao; Giroud.

  1. This is not the time for experimenting Pioli should put the best on the field to kill the games before last minutes pressure,he need to play Kessie ,Tonali and Bennecer from start and if possible Rebic also as RWF ,

    1. “not the time for experimenting” and then you suggest Rebic as RW, hmm
I hope this is true. Definitely Krunic deserves his shot. Best choice imo, always plays a 6,5 minimum, you can count on him, knows his teammates well and has nerves of steel. I always liked him.

    1. Yes, with rebic in front pressing works much better, team is able to bring back the ball earlier. Nothing to add..

  2. Lately, good things happen when Rebic is on the field, don’t understand Pioli’s decisions….but…. he has the youngest team in Serie A and is in the Scudetto race. IMO we need strong central attack to free Leao being marked by 2, Saele’s time in Milan jersey depends on this game, he better produce. Krunic is a strong player however he slows Theo’s runs which defeat the counter attack, we need strong central kicks on goal. Enough of the header service. Verona still has the Euro’s to play for so ill not be the typical end of season match to a mid-level team. I believe Pioli’s strategy is to absolutely with out any question stop Verona, give them no hope of an early goal which has been our weakness, always playing from behind. Three keys to a Rossoneri win, Theo’s counter attack centrally, Krunic’s ball distribution with back to goal, and Saele.’s penetration to get the ball in close to Giroud. Forza Rossoneri !
