AC Milan Deadline Day LIVE: Midfielder and two forwards to sign; enquiry over Celta Vigo playmaker

By Oliver Fisher -

The day is finally upon us. After weeks of speculation and seemingly hundreds of targets linked, at the end of today AC Milan’s squad will be locked in.

With the window all set to shut this evening at 20:00 CEST, we at SempreMilan will guide you through the final few hours of the summer mercato, with a couple of deals expected to be completed at least. Sit back, relax, and take it all in.

17:40pm – Words of comfort

Feeling a bit down about Milan’s deadline day? Carlo Pellegatti is here to tell you the Rossoneri have a stronger squad now than they did last season and that Messias shouldn’t be written off.

16:55pm – Junior Messiah

Some fans wanted a more well-known profile and one more congruent with expectations both domestically and in view of a return to the Champions League, but the Rossoneri management are firmly convinced by Messias after turning down Isco and James Rodriguez. Read why here.

16:01pm – Twist in the tale?

Milan’s mercato may not be over after all as Napoli director Cristiano Giuntoli arrived at Casa Milan a few minutes ago. According to PianetaMilan‘s Stefano Bressi, Giuntoli arrived at the Rossoneri’s headquarters and it is therefore possible that the Milan management and Napoli will try to set up some last minute operations.

UPDATE: It may have been a Giuntoli lookalike, tweets deleted. Couldn’t make this up.

15:14pm – Medical complete!

An imminent arrival just got that bit closer…

14:58pm – Short shrift

Milan made an attempt to try and land Adam Ounas from Napoli before they settled for Junior Messias but they ran into two big problems. La Gazzetta dello Sport have provided the background here.

14:10pm – Double exit still possible

Milan are working on sorting accommodation for two players on the right flank, namely Andrea Conti and Samu Castillejo, with a contract termination possible for the former. Calciomercato.com reported it, and you can read about it here.

13:34 – Make it a treble

We ought to remember that – as well as Adli and Messias – a third signing should be announced today. Chaka Traore arrived to begin his medical ahead of joining Milan from Parma yesteday.

Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com claimed that the Serie B side will collect a small compensation sum of around €600k for the teenager, who actually made his debut against Milan late last season aged just 16, becoming first 2004-born player to play in Serie A.

13:25pm – Three snubs and a signing

Milan negotiated on multiple different fronts before deciding to settle on signing Junior Messias from Crotone with three other players probed. Calciomercato.com have provided a recollection of the last 48 hours, which you can read here.

12:58pm – Fit like a glove?

AC Milan’s next and possibly their final signing of the summer window will be Junior Messias from Crotone, and the news has provoked a mixed reaction, but there are reasons to suggest he could be a good fit. We looked at his stats.

12:43pm – I have to praise you like I should

While Milan’s summer business continues to divide opinion among supporters, La Gazzetta dello Sport believe that the management have done a good job. Read their report here.

12:33pm – Have Yacine this?!

Yacine Adli’s contract has been officially deposited by Milan, and we can expect the official announcement to be made in the coming hours.

12:12pm – Denis the Menace

AC Milan came forward and expressed an interest in signing attacking midfielder Denis Suarez from Celta Vigo, according to a report. Read more about it here.

11:40am – Conti could leave

The chances of Andrea Conti leaving AC Milan appear to have risen as two clubs have come forward and shown interest. Read more here.

11:15am – Do me a Faivre

It cannot be ruled out that AC Milan try to resume negotiations with Brest over Romain Faivre on deadline day according to Tuttosport, which you can read about here. We want today to be fun, surprising and exciting, but even we can’t get optimistic about this one. Stranger things have happened though…

10:53am – Market closed?

This always seems to happen every deadline day, but Anto Vitiello of MilanNews has gone early with his tweet suggesting Milan’s incoming market is closed after Messias signs.

10:39am – Another imminent deal

Of course, we must remind you at this point that Yacine Adli arrived at AC Milan’s headquarters last night to sign his contract and formally complete a move to the Rossoneri, with an announcement expected today.

10:33am – Castillejo chaos and confusion

An agent and an agency are battling over Castillejo’s future with as many as three clubs interested in the winger. Read the latest on his future here.

10:24am – Miranchuk approach made

Milan have made an attempt to sign attacking midfielder Aleksei Miranchuk from Atalanta but a deal seems difficult. Read more here.

10:07am – Messias medical underway

Junior Messias has reported this morning to begin his medical examinations ahead of a deadline day move to Milan.

  1. This is the best Management can do, now is our part to support our beloved club, stop bullying to coach and players,, appreciate their hardwork!! Forza Milan..

  2. If they Castillejo left and they brought another winger it would be perfect considering the budget. Next season we can maybe go for some top players, after CL money is in.

  3. Honestly, I feel the management has tried, net spending is not easy’ no outgoing sales. Let’s Go Milan! Whatever happens we are here!
